A corporate podcast in India has no standard price. Six things set the budget: the number of episodes, the crew and cameras on the day, where it is shot, how much research and scripting is needed, how much editing and how many versions you want, and how many review rounds your team needs. Ask every production company to quote against the same written scope, or the quotes cannot be compared.
The six things that set the budget
1. Number of episodes
A season recorded in one or two shoot days costs less per episode than episodes recorded one at a time, because setup, travel and crew time are shared.
2. Crew and cameras
A two-camera interview needs fewer people than a three-camera roundtable with a live switcher. Ask how many crew members are on set and what each one does.
3. Location
A studio already has treated sound, lights and cameras in place. Shooting at your office or plant means moving equipment and treating a room that was not built for audio.
4. Pre-production
Research, guest briefing, outlines and scripts take time before anyone sits in front of a camera. Expert or regulated content, such as pharma, needs more of it.
5. Post-production
A clean full-length episode is the base. Short clips, subtitles in a second language, thumbnails, titles and versions for different platforms each add work.
6. Review rounds and approvals
Every review round adds editing time. Companies with legal or medical review should say so up front so the schedule and the quote include it.
How to brief a production company
Send the same one-page brief to everyone you ask for a quote:
- Goal: who should watch, and what they should do next
- Number of episodes and how often they will be released
- Speakers and languages
- Where you want to record
- What you need delivered: full episodes, clips, subtitles, thumbnails
- Who approves, and how many review rounds you expect
Questions to ask before you sign
- Who owns the raw footage and the final files once the project is paid?
- Will you sign our NDA before pre-production?
- How many review rounds are included, and what does an extra round cost?
- What is the delivery date for each episode?
- Can we see a project you made for a company like ours?
