What to wear and bring to a podcast shoot

By TubePod Media, Surat · Updated 7 October 2026

Short answer

Wear solid, mid-tone colours and avoid fine stripes, small checks and large logos, which flicker or distract on camera. Bring two or three tops, water, your notes or questions, and anything you plan to show on camera. Arrive a little early so the sound check and framing are done before your slot starts.

What to wear

  • Solid colours in mid tones: blues, greens, maroon, grey, earth tones
  • Clothes you are comfortable sitting in for an hour
  • A collar or neckline that leaves room for a clip-on microphone if one is used
  • Two or three options, so you can change between episodes

What to avoid

  • Fine stripes and small checks. They create a shimmering pattern on camera.
  • Very bright white or neon. They glow under studio lights and pull attention from your face.
  • Large logos and slogans you do not own or do not want in every frame.
  • Noisy jewellery. Bangles and long chains tap the table and the microphone.

What to bring

  • Your questions, outline or script (scripts can go on the teleprompter)
  • Water
  • Anything you will show on camera, such as a product or a book
  • A phone charger, with the phone on silent during recording
  • For companies: the name spellings and titles to use on screen

The day before

  • Confirm the slot, the set and the number of guests.
  • Send guests the address: 261, Orchid Harmony Shopping, Gaurav Path Road, Nr. Savion Circle, Adajan, Opp. Fire Station, Palanpur, Surat, Gujarat 395009.
  • Check the directions and parking.

On the day

Arrive early for the sound check. Speak to the person, not the camera. If a sentence comes out wrong, pause and say it again; it will be cut in the edit.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can I wear black on a podcast?

Yes, but a solid black top can lose detail against a dark set. Mid tones are safer.

Should I bring makeup?

Yes, if you use it. A little powder reduces shine under studio lights. At TubePod there is a makeup room with a full-length mirror, and a changing room.
